What is SkyLifter?

  • Airships are capable of low flight speeds, long endurance flights and lifting very heavy payloads vertically.

  • SkyLifter is a company developing a family of new multi-rotor omni-directional airships that share a single, scalable design concept. The design is proven to overcome many of the issues typically associated with traditional 'cigar-shaped' airships. Our aim is to enable sustainable commercial access to airspace by creating practical and commercially viable airships that can float endlessly in the sky like ships on the ocean, and thereby capture significant market positions in: Tourism, Resources, Cargo, and Sport aviation.

To date, most airships have been cigar-shaped.  This shape may be sensible for the scheduled transporting of regular cargo from airfield to airfield, but is not ideal for ad-hoc airlifting from any-site to any-site.  An airship doing ad-hoc work must be able to hold a geostationary aerial position during pickup or delivery of payloads.  And the airship must hold position in variable wind conditions and with minimal ground infrastructure.
